A banner year for the Montesano Youth Soccer Club will be celebrated Dec. 3 and 4 when the club hosts the quarterfinal round of the Washington Youth Soccer Recreational Cup. Not only is it the club’s first time hosting state tournament games, but Montesano Youth Soccer also will have three teams playing in the state quarterfinals.

“It’s been quite a year for Montesano Youth Soccer,” club president Chuck Fairbairn said. “We started the summer with over 30 teams and over 400 players, and to see it end with teams advancing to state and tournament games being played in Montesano is a credit to all our staff, coaches and especially to our players.”

The three teams advancing to state will play their games at Jack Rottle Field at Montesano High School. The GU12 Kicks and GU15 Bandits will play on Saturday, Dec. 3, and the GU13 Lightning will play on Sunday, Dec. 4. The three teams won their District 7 tournaments on Nov. 13 to qualify for state.

“Montesano has never hosted state games and never had this level of participation. We are hoping for a great turnout that weekend to cheer these teams on,” Fairbairn said.

The Kicks team includes players Anabelle Estrada, Reghann Fairbairn, Sierra Fuquay, Naudia Jay, Ruby Jones, Kallie Knutson, Alyssa Maldonado, Mikayla Stanfield, Riley Timmons and Elizabeth York and coaches Julie Stanfield and Chuck Fairbairn.
