Cruising to a 41-7 halftime lead, Montesano went on to trounce Onalaska in a non-league makeup game Saturday, Jan. 7, at Bo Griffith Memorial Gym. The Bulldogs won 51-11.
Jordan Spradlin had 13 points and 15 rebounds while Shayla Floch added 10 points for the Bulldogs (10-2).
Montesano helped force 27 turnovers.
The 40-point running-clock mercy rule was implemented in the second half. Playing almost exclusively reserves, the Bulldogs went scoreless in the fourth quarter.
“We worked really hard on defense,” Monte coach Julie Graves said. “Our transition offense worked well and when we needed to be patient in our half-court offense, we moved the ball and found the open teammate.”
Hannah Quinn handed out four assists for the Bulldogs.
Bulldogs 56, Beavers 22
Spradlin led all scorers with 32 points and 12 rebounds to lead Montesano past Tenino in thisEvergreen 1A League contest on Friday, Jan. 6.
Playing for the first time in eight days, the Bulldogs needed time to shake off the rust. The offense came inside, led by Spradlin, and thedefense followed to shut down the Beavers.
“We were a bit rusty from the layoff; I thought the kids played hard,” Graves said. “Our outside shots didn’tfall.”
Josie Talley pulled down six rebounds and Katie Granstrom came off the bench to pull down four rebounds in the fourth quarter.Cheyann Bartlett and Josie Toyra also dished out four assists each.
Montesano visited rival Elma on Tuesday. The results were not available when The Vidette went to press.
