Taking full advantage of Forks’ pitchers, Montesano registered an Evergreen 1A league doubleheader sweep, 18-2 and 15-2, at Vessey Field on April 13.
Montesano (3-0, 3-2) started the day with a 16-run first inning and never looked back. Austin Peterson and Evan Bates picked up the wins on the mound.
“We took advantage of their pitchers; I believe they were short-handed after their games against Hoquiam (on Tuesday),” Montesano head coach Mike Osgood said. “We hit the ball pretty well. Our pitchers threw strikes and we played good defense behind them.”
Osgood cited Carson Klinger for his defensive work in center field.
