Nine Twin Harbors athletes were honored by being named to their respective Senior All-State Teams, the Washington State Volleyball Coaches Association announced on Monday.
Elma’s Jalyn Sackrider and Kali Rambo; Ocosta’s Emily Snider, Layne Martin and Evalyn Marsh; Willapa Valley’s Hallee Layman, Katie Adkins and Olivia Betrozoff; and Pe Ell’s Presley Peterson were all named to the association’s Senior All-State Team and will participate in the 2019 Senior All-State Volleyball Series, which is set to begin at 11 a.m. on Sunday at Burlington-Edison High School in Burlington.
Sackrider and Rambo both earned 1A Evergreen First Team All-League nods after helping lead the Eagles to a league championship and a deep tournament run in the district playoffs. Sackrider led Elma with 180 kills while Rambo was third on the team with 92 as the only two local representatives on the 1A all-state squad.
Willapa Valley and Ocosta had three players each named to the 1B/2B Senior All-State Team, including co-League MVPs in Ocosta’s Layne Martin and Emily Snider.
Evalyn Marsh joins her Ocosta teammates as a Senior all-state selection as does three players from rival-Willapa Valley, which won the Coastal League with a 9-0 record (17-5 overall).
Vikings Hallee Layman, Katie Adkins and Olivia Betrozoff — all First Team All-League players — will represent Willapa Valley on the all-state team.
Both the Wildcats and Vikings will be well represented in the coaching ranks as well as Willapa Valley head coach Karisa Hodel, Ocosta head coach Barbara Rasmus and Ocosta assistant coach Erin Snider were named the 1B/2B coaching staff.
Pe Ell libero Presley Peterson — the only Trojan named to the league’s First Team — also earned a spot on the 1B/2B Senior All-State roster.
