Montesano’s Austin Peterson carded a career-best score of 38 to help lift Montesano over La Center in a Southwest Washington 1A League match at Tri-Mountain Golf Course on Thursday, Sept. 29.
After a double bogey on the first hole, Peterson played the final eight holes one stroke under par. Peterson’s round included a birdie and two eagles, including a tap-in putt for eagle on the final hole.
“I can’t remember the last time I saw a kid as excited as he was today when he hit his last shot,” Montesano coach Lloyd Aldrich said. “I was really fun to watch.”
The Bulldogs counted four scores of 48 or under to take the match with Payson Parker firing a 44, Matthew Plato carding a 46 and Noah Quinn adding a 48.
Montesano traveled to Lewis River Golf Course in Woodland to face Kalama on Tuesday, Oct. 4.

Kalama’s Austin Tucker carded a 39 to earn medalist honors and lead the Chinooks to a win over Elma in a Southwest Washington 1A League match at Oaksridge Golf Course on Thursday, Sept 29.
Elma’s Trace Thompson fired a score of 43 for the low round for the Eagles.
Elma travels to Club Green Meadows in Vancouver to take on King’s Way Christian today.

Three players scored in the 40s as Montesano downed rival Elma in a Southwest Washington 1A League match Tuesday, Sept. 27, at Oaksridge Golf Course.
Elma’s Kilian Acuff took medalist honors with a 42. But the Bulldogs had superior depth, with Austin Peterson carding a 44, Payson Parker a 45 and Noah Quinn a 47.
Eagle coach Rich Walker commended his team for an improved performance.
On Thursday, Sept. 29, the Bulldogs visited La Center, while the Eagles hosted Kalama.
