It’s been almost a year since I became editor at The Vidette? I would like you to tell me how I’m doing. Please.
Am I covering the stories you want? Are you getting the news you want?
What am I missing? What do you wish you’d see less of?
There are not many letters to the editor coming in to the paper. That could be good or that could be bad.
Online readership is up, according to the analytic reports I get from Google Analytics. That’s good.
Subscriptions have been down, but I don’t know if it’s better or worse since I’ve arrived.
Would you like me to touch on more national news? Would you like me to tell you my thoughts on the border with Mexico? Should I run the tragic picture of the father and daughter who died trying to cross the Rio Grande?
If that was going on at the border with Canada, you can bet we’d be talking about it more.
Would you like to talk about recent historical moments happening in North Korea?
How about news on abortion?
I have a feeling you’d rather I kept it local.
We have some fun stories coming up. Rep. Mike Chapman hopes to use Montesano’s tree farm as an example for other communities in the state. Little League is in full swing. We’ll have some stories on those.
In next week’s paper will be an advance on the Historic Montesano Car Show.
We’re working on a story on the high school stadium in Elma.
And did you hear about the LeMay transfer station coming to East County? We’ll look at that and let you know what’s going on and when it will open.
Please, tell me what you think of The Vidette. And let me know about anything else East County related.
