Grant Edwards of Aberdeen celebrated his birthday with friends and family Saturday and Montesano VFW post.

Edwards was born May 3, 1919, in Great Falls, Montana. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Dec. 11, 1939. During his 20-year Navy career, Edwards was stationed in San Diego, where he was in Hospital Corps School; Bremerton; aboard the USS Hendry attack transport; Aberdeen; Camp Pendleton, California; and in El Toro, California. He transferred to the Navy Reserve on Aug. 1, 1960.
