Fatal accident

An accident 6 miles north of Hoquiam on Nov. 28, has resulted in the death of an Elma driver.

The driver was northbound on State Route 109 at milepost 6 when she crossed the center line and struck another vehicle. She was flown to Harborview and later died.

The other driver, of Tonasket, also was injured and transported to Community Hospital in Aberdeen.

Driver charged

A Montesano driver was taken to Community Hospital following an accident near Cosmopolis.

The 25-year-old driver was southbound on State Route 107 when the vehicle left the roadway and drove over the northbound shoulder and through the Department of Transportation Park and Ride. The vehicle struck a dirt berm, vaulted into the air, rolled, and came to rest on the driver’s side of the vehicle, northbound on state Route 101.

The driver was charged with driving under the influence.

Several injured

Several people were injured by an accident on Preachers Slough Road in rural Montesano.

The vehicle was southbound on State Route 107 at milepost 4 when the driver, a 28-year-old of South Bend, fell asleep and lost control. The vehicle left the roadway, struck a tree on the front passenger side and spun 90 degrees, coming to rest on its wheels.

All of the passengers, seven total, and the driver, were injured and transported to local medical facilities. The passengers ranged in age from 11 months old to 27 years old.

The driver was charged with second-degree negligent driving.

Schouweiler wreck

Three people were transported to Summit Pacific Medical Center in Elma following an accident at Schouweiler Road.

An 81-year-old Shelton driver attempted to make a left turn on eastbound Highway 12. A second vehicle was traveling westbound in the right lane. When the Shelton driver pulled out, the vehicles collided.

Both vehicles were totalled.

Both drivers, the other a 22-year-old of Taholah, were injured. A 29-year-old passenger in the second vehicle also was injured. An infant passenger in the second vehicle was uninjured.
