Montesano Chief Financial Officer and Clerk Doug Streeter is leaving his position with the city to go to work in Lewis County.
“I wasn’t looking to make a move,” Streeter said via email, “but when you’re presented with an opportunity you have to evaluate it. I talked it over with my wife and family and we all agreed it would be a good move.”
He will be the next controller at the Lewis County Public Utilities District, the agency’s human relations manager said Friday.
“Doug helped build the foundation of everything we did in the last three-and-a-half years,” Montesano Mayor Vini Samuel said. “He worked with everyone — city staff, council members, department heads, lawmakers and local businesses — to make real progress for the people of Montesano.”
Streeter echoed the progress the city has made during his watch.
“I appreciate the opportunity the City gave me and I think together everyone has made Montesano a better place to work and live over the last three and a half years,” he said in the email.
Samuel singled out Streeter’s role in helping the city balance its budget after deficits.
Streeter’s last day with the city will be July 12.
“While he will be missed, we look toward the search for our new team member for the city,” Samuel said.
As for his plans, Streeter says he isn’t going far.
“I’m not leaving the area so I’ll still be as involved as ever in the Community,” he wrote.
