Calls recently received by the Elma Police Department

Sept. 9

Prowler. 600 block W. Eaton St. 12:35 a.m. Unknown male subject came to an open window and asked if he could borrow a car. Reporting party said she was calling the cops and subject ran off.

Animal problem. 400 block N. 10th St. 8:59 a.m. Two pit bulls attacking a pomeranian in the street. Fully-fenced yard but with holes under where dogs dug out. Because dogs killed the other one, they were classified as dangerous dogs and impounded.

Citizen assist. 100 block Blossom Lane. 5:11 p.m. Scooter stolen from an accident several years ago has been found at a tow yard and is totaled. The company is demanding payment. Advised to contact insurance.

Sept. 10

Trespassing. 4700 block State Route 12. 5:08 p.m. Two on dirt bikes on reporting party’s property. Observed motorcyclists who fled when they saw patrol vehicle. Did not attempt to chase them.

Sept. 12

Agency assist. 600 block E. Main St. 9:27 p.m. Assist Mason County with locating a stabbing victim. Victim was not stabbed but had a cut.

Sept. 13

Agency assist. 600 block N. 6th St. 8:03 a.m. Vehicle fire in driveway of residence. Knocked down fire with extinguisher and remained on scene until fire department arrived.

Subject pursuit. Second and Mill streets. 1:56 p.m. Two male subjects riding bikes and did not stop at stop sign. They then stopped on the railroad tracks. Advised them they were not allowed on the tracks and to follow posted road signs. Would not identify themselves and attempted to place one in custody when he said no, and struck hands away. Took off running and officer gave chase. Could not locate subject when he ran into brush. K-9 also unsuccessful.

Suspicious person/circumstance. N. 13th and W. Bailey Road. 5:22 p.m. White van keeps driving by and now is parked. Contacted vehicle occupants who said they were looking for a friend’s house and van overheated.

Sept. 15

Agency assist. State Route 8 and Heise Road. 2:14 p.m. Male subject holding a “Legal Weed” sign on State Route 8. Contacted subject who was on the shoulder of Heise Road with the sign. He said was staying on Heise and not blocking traffic on the highway. No crime.
