A proposed dam on the upper Chehalis River will be the main topic of the Grays Harbor Audubon Society’s first program of 2020 on Sunday (Feb. 2).

Quinault Indian Nation spokesman Mark Glyde will focus on key issues surrounding the proposed dam, including its potential impact on salmon, particularly spring chinook; how the dam’s unique design would work and a discussion of the stakeholders involved. The dam’s main purpose is to reduce flood damage.

Glyde also will talk about the Aquatic Species Restoration Plan, designed to restore habitat throughout the Chehalis Basin. The dam and the plan are two main initiatives of the state’s Chehalis Basin Strategy.

The presentation will take place at 1:30 p.m. at the Hoquiam Library meeting room. All are invited to the program. Refreshments will be served. The library is at 420 Seventh St.
