Washington State Patrol troopers investigated a vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 12 near Aberdeen Lake Road on Monday afternoon that killed a woman from Montesano.

According to the Washington State Patrol, 87-year-old Patricia Eaton of Montesano was driving off Aberdeen Lake Road making a left turn onto the highway heading east in a 2002 Subaru Outback.

State Patrol Public Information Officer Chelsea Hodgson confirmed that the two-car collision resulted in the fatality via Twitter on Monday afternoon, that it involved a car and a pickup truck. The other driver was treated for injuries and released.

The westbound lane was blocked following the accident for more than three hours. Traffic was heavily backed up due to the accident, and there was alternating traffic utilizing the eastbound lane. Hodgson also wrote that members of the Washington State Department of Transit were being sent to assist with traffic control.
