An Elma resident was knocked out and robbed after being struck from behind while he was riding his bicycle on the bike trail near the Bishop Complex on the Westport Highway just outside Aberdeen Wednesday evening, according to Aberdeen Police. The incident occurred about 7 p.m., when the 32-year-old Elma man was hit from behind. When he awakened, his bicycle, cell phone and shoes had been taken from him, police said.
The bicycle is described as having a rubber light fastened to the handle bar, a silver bottle holder mounted on the tube of the bicycle and gold-colored valve stem caps. The phone was a Verizon prepaid white Samsung Galaxy S4.
The Aberdeen Police Department is looking for any witnesses or information to help with the investigation, and encourages anyone with information to contact its investigations division. The front desk number is 360-533-3180, and callers can then ask for a detective or Lieutenant Kevin Darst.
