Elma, McCleary districts collect 5.5 tons of food for food banks

They also collected more than $23,000 for this year’s Food Bowl events.

The students in the Elma School District joined forces with the McCleary School District and collected 5.5 tons of food and $23,930.58 dollars for East County food banks.

“Thank you to all who donated your time, money or food. These donations support the food bank in Elma, and food banks in McCleary and Malone,” organizer Emily Wamsley said. “I am also very thankful that for a second year we have done the ‘Toiletry Toss Up’ event and our Elma School District staff members and staff from Summit Pacific Medical Center helped to bring in some amazing products that will support those in need beyond food.”
