Mary Jane (Carowick) and Bob Spoonhoward will have their 60th wedding anniversary Nov. 29.

They were married in Dravosburg, Pennsylvania, in 1958. They moved to the Harbor in 1971.

They have owned Sweet Melody Learning Center in Elma since 1980. There, they offer licensed early child care. Seems appropriate that they help raise other children now since they have 11 children of their own.

They also have 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

They had known each other for just a few months when they married. They met on a double date in early fall 1958.

They are celebrating the occasion from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, at Elma Alliance Church, 215 N. Third St. They invite the community to “come stroll through six decades of pictorial scenes reflecting the outcomes of those initial sparks and join in the food, story-telling and merriment all wrapped up in the rock-n-roll era where it all started,” an announcement reads.
