Monthly state food worker card classes in Aberdeen will discontinue due to lack of participation and high administrative costs, according to a statement released Thursday by Jeff Nelson, Grays Harbor County Environmental Health director.

The class was held at the Health Department in Aberdeen. Anyone seeking a state food worker card still has online options, stated Nelson.

“Online training has now been available since 2011 and with recent upgrades making it more accessible and compatible with mobile devices and tablets, in addition to being offered in multiple languages, it is the primary way food workers now obtain and renew their cards,” read Nelson’s statement.

Food workers can get a Washington State Food Worker Card online at foodworkercard.wa.gov/. This is the only site meeting Washington State requirements, said Nelson.

Computers are available to take the online course at Worksource Grays Harbor, located at 415 W. Wishkah St., Suite 2D, in Aberdeen. Those that do not have an email or a payment card also have the option of taking the test online and paying with cash or check at the Grays Harbor County Environmental Health office, located at 100 W. Broadway, Suite 31, in Montesano.
