On Monday, the state Department of Fish and Wildlife announced the results of a third test on Twin Harbors beaches that determined marine toxins levels meet health standards. Recreational clam digging will be allowed on the South Beach starting Friday, Oct. 14, and through the weekend.

The beaches at Copalis and Mocrocks also will open tomorrow. Long Beach will remain closed to clam digging due to test results that show domoic acid levels that exceed the amount deemed safe under state health standards.

Digging is only allowed on evening tides. No digging will be allowed before noon.

Evening low tides

Oct. 14, Fri, 5:55 p.m.; 0.2 ft.

Oct. 15, Sat, 6:42 p.m.; -0.6 ft.

Oct. 16, Sun, 7:28 p.m.; -1.1 ft.

Under state law, diggers can take 15 razor clams per day and are required to keep the first 15 they dig. Each digger’s clams must be kept in a separate container.
