Thank you from Humane Society chapter
The Vidette received this email this week from Sandy Clancy, board president of the South Pacific County Humane Society:
The South Pacific County Humane Society (SPCHS) would like to express our appreciation to Don Stone and all the organizers of the Rokfest 8 for the donation of $2,807 in memory of Jeff “Rok” Sanford.
Thank you to Charlie’s Sports Bar for hosting the event, the great bands — Black Ice, Stifler and Six Pack Pretty — and the businesses and individuals who donated raffle items, and to everyone attending the event.
SPCHS is a 501(c)(3) no-kill shelter in Long Beach. We do not receive any government funds and rely on the generosity of our community to care for the homeless cats and dogs at our shelter. SPCHS finds homes for more than 400 cats and dogs and reunites more than 70 lost cats and dogs with their families each year.
Words cannot express how grateful our Board, staff, volunteers and the cats and dogs at the shelter are with the Rokfest support.
Phone scam
The Aberdeen Police Department reports a Harborite received a phone call claiming their Social Security account was compromised.
“The caller requested personal information from the victim to ‘verify’ their account,” a release from Chief Steven Shumate reads. The release stresses that “The United State Social Security Administration will NEVER call you to ‘verify’ your information. They already have your information.”
If you receive a similar call, do not give out personal information, but please call the nonemergency number associated with your law enforcement services.
