Saturday Morning Market returns to Montesano

9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fleet Park in Montesano on Saturdays throughout summer.

Local farmers, artists and vendors will again be the focus of the Saturday Morning Market running June 8 to August 26 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Montesano’s Fleet Park.

The market started in Montesano last year, and event organizer Angie Brown said that it had been a dream of hers for the past decade.

“When I was asked to start the Market, I was honored and excited to bring my community together,” she said.

While attendance and vendor participation varied from week to week, Brown was overall left amazed by the reception by the community. Each Saturday anywhere from 15 to 25 vendors, and 100 to 200 spectators, would flock to Fleet Park to see what their community had to offer.

“I loved going home every Saturday with fresh produce and gifts for loved ones knowing I was supporting local families and farmers,” Brown said.

The market features produce from local farmers, baked goods and music by Stone Soup Artists, a collective of local musicians playing several different styles. Each musician will play independently at different times during the markets. Brown says this year the market will have even more to offer.

“We have more local artists and a huge variety of vendors,” she said.

Each weekend will see new vendors and artists at the market, giving vendors and shoppers eight opportunities over the course of two months to head to the park and see what their community has to offer. About 30 vendors are already signed up for the first market of the season and will be joined by local farmers, artists and youth fundraisers.

“It’s a great way to support our local community vendors and the opportunity to meet your neighbors and community members,” Brown said.

The fee for vendors is $25 for the entire summer or $5 for the day. Those interested in more information can contact Brown at angiebrown4@comcast.net or go to Montesano Saturday Morning Market at eventbrite.com and sign up.

Brown says she is planning to be on hand for every market this season.

“I will be at the market every Saturday if anyone has questions,” Brown said.
