Satsop School News
If you have never noticed before that our school is pretty unique, you probably will after reading this bit of news.
On April 21, the week after Easter, we had our annual Easter egg hunt.
The reason we did was that the Friday before Easter when we would normally have it, the rain was coming down in bucketfuls. We could hardly stick goodies out in the mud puddles, so we just postponed the activities.
Each year the students look for the golden egg or gold coin as was the case this year. Randi Conrad found it this year, so she got a special treat.
Mrs. Wolfe coordinates the American Heart Association Jump-a-thon for the first through sixth grades. Forty-nine of our students participated, and together raised $2,151. These kids had a great time jumping together, too. Thanks to everyone that helped our kids.
During the spring we usually plan some fieldtrips for each of the three classes. This year we are excited that two organizations from Elma School are providing some. On April 25, the Elma High School Honor Society has invited our kindergarten through third-grade students on a fun trip to the Hands-on Children’s Museum. Also, Elma FFA has invited the kindergarten and first grades to come to the Torres’ Dairy farm in May. Both of those trips have been real hits with the kids in the past.
Mrs. Hendrick received a well deserved honor recently. KIX Radio station notified her that she was nominated as teacher of the month for April. As a part of the honor she went to the radio station for an interview (which you may have heard), and was given several gift items from local merchants. The staff at Satsop is glad that she was given that recognition.
Mark your calendar for May 5 and 6. The awesome, annual Satsop School rummage sale is just around the corner. There are two ways to enjoy the event. You could clean out those hiding spots at your house and bring us the rummage to sell, or you could come to the school gym on those days and buy most anything. We have great prices.
Last, but not least, I need to let you know of the students being awarded the coveted “Caught Being Good” award for March/April. They are: Zane Keith, Fenix Roberts, Riley Cobb, Levi Clements, Karylie Ziara, Hunter Clements, Luke Clements, Izzy Lenss and Gage Browning. Nice job, kids.
