In keeping with tradition, Montesano will celebrate its 30th annual Festival of Lights this weekend.
The event, Dec. 9 through Dec. 11, Friday through Sunday, kicks off with a live vocal performance at the high school for all ages at 6:30 p.m. followed by an “ugly sweater DJ dance party” and auction at Montesano City Hall for adults 21 years and older. Admission for the dance is $15 in advance or $20 at the door.
Several separate events are scheduled for Saturday, including the flagship events of breakfast with Santa, 8 a.m.-10:30 a.m. at the Monte Community Center (314 S. Main St.), and the grand parade at 6 p.m. featuring Grand Marshall Ken Albert. The Yule Log will be lit at 7 p.m. at Fleet Park near downtown.
For a complete list of events (the Jingle Bell Jog on Saturday, live performances at the County Courthouse, a chowder feed and a separate helping of chili and corn bread, to name a few) and parade route, see the special section included in this week’s issue of The Vidette.
