Waste Connections and its subsidiary, Lemay Enterprises of Grays Harbor, has donated a 1996 trash collector vehicle to the Grays Harbor College Diesel Technology program.
“We want our students to have every advantage when they go out into the workplace,” explains Diesel instructor David Werner. “As of the school year just starting, our diesel students will also graduate with their commercial driving license (CDL), along with forklift certification, first aid and CPR training. In diesel shops, these big vehicles can only be moved, even in and out of the shop bays, by someone with a CDL. Our students will have theirs,” he exclaimed.
“This vehicle is a hands-on practical lab and a great opportunity for our students to gain some experience,” said Lucas Rucks, the college’s new Dean for Workforce Education thanking Mike Nelson of Lemay’s who serves on GHC’s Diesel Technology advisory committee and delivered the donated truck.
