Elma senior outside hitter Quin Mikel was named the 1A Evergreen League’s Most Valuable Player for the 2019 season, the league announced earlier this week.
Mikel, an energetic outside hitter and vocal leader of the Eagles, was impressive on offense, defense and in a leadership role for the Eagles this season. The senior was second on the team in kills with 160 and led Elma in digs with 148 to lead the Eagles to their third straight league title and extend Elma’s league winning-streak to 24 games.
Elma head coach Kendra Dunn was named the league’s Coach of the Year and Grays Harbor student-athletes McKynnlie Dalan and Emma Kahler of Montesano; Kali Rambo, Ella Moore and Jalyn Sackrider of Elma; and Hoquiam’s Hailey Lawrence were all named to the league’s First Team.

Montesano midfielder Brooke Streeter and fullback Paige Lisherness each earned a top league honor as the 1A Evergreen League announced its all-league girls soccer team earlier this week.
Streeter, a junior midfielder and Monte’s leading scorer this season, earned the league’s Offensive MVP award while Bulldogs sophomore Lisherness earned the Defensive Player of the Year award for leading the Bulldogs’ stingy back line.
Other Twin Harbors student-athletes named to the First Team were Madi Campbell, Jaiden Morrison, Sophie Barre and Anna Ayres of Montesano; Rebecca Lensegrav and Jillian Bieker of Elma; and Kyra Gardner of Raymond-South Bend.
