Elma made quick work of a rebuilding Tenino team with a 3-0 road victory to remain undefeated in league play on Oct. 17.
Elma was dominant from the start, winning the games by scores of 25-2, 25-5 and 25-13 against the Beavers.
Elma got another typically strong game from Jalyn Sackrider, who was tied for the team lead in kills with 10 and added seven digs to her stat line. Quin Mikel was also a big part of the offense for Elma with 10 kills and five aces.
Elma head coach Kendra Dunn said she was glad to see her team keep its focus, though the result was a bit lopsided.
“We controlled a lot of what we can control and that was one of our main goals,” she said. “We were able to run a lot of things for our offense, which is nice.”
Elma used its service game to help put the match away as Mikel added three aces in the final set to keep Tenino from building momentum. The Eagles’ servers gave the Beavers’ back row fits on a night where Elma came up with 21 aces.

Elma’s next match is a home game against Hoquiam on Monday at 7 p.m.
Hoquiam is still looking for its first league win of the season but the Eagles will have to handle business against the Grizzlies before facing second-place Montesano on Thursday in a contest that will have significant impact on the league-title race.
Despite being on opposite ends of the standings, Dunn said her team is excited for its match against Hoquiam and expects her team to build momentum as the end of the regular season approaches.
“They have a lot of grit and they just want to keep pushing themselves to do the best they can. Playing in league does that. They’re excited for Hoquiam and the last push of the season. We’ll see where it takes us.”

Montesano 3, Hoquiam 0
Montesano survived a hotly-contested opening set and used the momentum to come away with a 3-0 home victory over Hoquiam on Oct. 17.
Montesano edged Hoquiam in the first set 33-31 before beating the Grizzlies 25-8 and 25-13 the rest of the way.
The Bulldogs got a lot of production out of McKynnlie Dalan, who had 13 kills.
Monte also got solid passing out of both of its setters as Janessa Otterstetter and Myah Gallinger ended the night with 13 and 11 kills, respectively.
Montesano head coach Pat Pace said it was good to see his team play at a high level after losing a 24-20 lead in the opening set.
“The girls showed improvement tonight. Their net play was much more aggressive and their passing made the setters’ job easier,” he said. “Both teams played hard in the first set with several long rallies. I was happy to see the team prevail after giving up such a big lead earlier in the set.”
Montesano will play Elma today, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m.
