The Daily World is saluting the veterans in our community by publishing a special section full of their photos and stories.
The section will run Nov. 9, two days before Veterans Day. If you served, or have a family member or friend who did, please email us their photo or bring it by the office. There’s no charge.
“In the scheme of things, it’s just a small way for us to show our appreciation, but we want our readers to see the faces of those in our community who felt strongly enough about our country to serve it,” said Publisher Mike Hrycko. “We’re hoping for a big response and lots of photos.”
We also want to give veterans a voice. If you would like to write something to tell us about your experience and what it means to have served, we’d like to hear it in your own words and to publish it. Please keep it to no more than 350 words and we’ll run as many as space allows.
For submissions of both stories and photos, please include your name, dates of service and military branch. They need to be in no later than Oct. 16.
Email photos to kbradt@thedailyworld.com, and stories to kbarkstrom@thedailyworld.com.
We’re asking that you don’t send photos through the mail. Email would be best, but you can also bring them directly to The Daily World office. We’ll scan them and return them right then.
