New Miss Grays Harbor takes over crown

“We had an amazing group of girls this year,” said Liisa Mayberry, the competition’s co-executive director. “I am so proud of all the contestants. They all shined on stage.”

Grace Aiken and Kathryn Thomas were crowned Miss Grays Harbor and Grays Harbor’s Outstanding Teen, respectively, Saturday evening at the 7th Street Theatre in Hoquiam.

Both winners will go on to compete this year for their respective state titles.

“We had an amazing group of girls this year,” said Liisa Mayberry, the competition’s co-executive director. “They all shined on stage.”

Courtney Glenn was the first runner-up for Miss Grays Harbor, receiving a $1,000 scholarship. Paicyn Dragoo was second runner-up, receiving a $700 scholarship.

As Grays Harbor’s Outstanding Teen, Thomas, 15, will promote her platform of dementia and Alzheimer’s awareness. The Montesano High School sophomore is the daughter of Chris and Dawn Thomas. Her talent is playing the flute.
