The Oakville School was evacuated Monday afternoon after a person called the school district and claimed a bomb had been planted inside the school.
The call came in at about 2 p.m., according to Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office Chief Criminal Deputy Brad Johansson.
“The school was closed, and the children are being evacuated,” said Johansson in a statement released about 3 p.m. Monday. “Parents have been given information how to reunite with their children.”
Washington State Patrol bomb-detection dogs and bomb squad technicians are responded to the scene, said Johansson, but they did not find anything. The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
The incident forced the closure and rerouting of U.S. Highway 12, while which caused a backup, according to the state Department of Transportation.
