Ramon Twine Carroll, known as Mone and Coach was called home March 11, 2018, while waiting for a heart/lung transplant due to Sarcoidosis.
He was born in Vallejo, Calif., June 10, 1961, to Teresa and Lloyd Carroll. He spent his youth in San Francisco where he attended Balboa High School and then on to the College of San Mateo. He spent his career working for United Airlines in both San Francisco and then Seatac, where he was forced to retire due to disability in 2009. Ramon and his wife then moved to their beloved town of McCleary where they resided until the transplant team needed them closer to U.W. Ramon was so looking forward to returning once his transplant was complete.
Ramon was a kind, gentle soul. He had a great love of music, and a beautiful singing voice if you were lucky enough to hear him. He loved traveling with his wife whenever possible, especially to Hawaii.
Ramon loved football — NFL, college and high school. He was an extreme Seahawks fan. His love and knowledge of the game carried into coaching where for more than 20 years he was a great coach and mentor for both the Seatac Sharks, and Black Hills Junior Football. He was a legacy ticket holder with the Seahawks. When his illness no longer permitted him to go to the games, he loved surrounding himself with friends to watch his Hawks “Fire in the hole.”
Then there was his never ending love of his San Francisco Giants. I think they could hear him in California all the way from Washington when they last won the World Series.
Ramon was preceded in death by his parents, Teresa and Lloyd Carroll, his sister Cynthia Butler and his father-in- law William Matheson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Susan Carroll, his son, Anthony Carlson, his brother Charles Jones (DeeDee) of Allen, Texas, Arthur Butler (Denise) of Patterson, Calif., sister Loretta Carroll-Street of Antioch, Calif., his beloved fur babies, Kirby Pucket, Finnigan and Fergie Foofoo and enough nieces, nephews and extended family and friends to fill a stadium.
A memorial service will celebrate Ramon’s life will be held Sunday, May 6, 2018, at 1 p.m. at Fraternal Order of Eagles, 404 Young Street in Elma, Wash.
Like his arm said “See you in the funny papers.”
