Larry Wayne McGlothlin
Larry Wayne McGlothlin, 77, passed away Monday, Feb. 26, 2018, at his home in Desert Aire, Wash. Larry was born April 3, 1940, to Gerald Wayne and Vera V. (Lloyd) McGlothlin in Halls Summit, Kan. They moved to Montesano, Wash. when he was six. Larry graduated from Montesano High School in 1958.
Larry met his high school sweetheart, Wilma Lobdell when he was 16 and married her in 1961 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
In 1960, Larry began his career in the construction industry working for Peter Kiewit Sons & Co, in Portland, Ore. In 1962, Larry joined the Air Force and was stationed in Mountain Home, Idaho working on B47’s until 1966. Larry then returned to Peter Kiewit Sons & Co, working his way up to Safety Engineer. Larry left the Northwest for Omaha, Neb. in 1969 and became a Safety and Equipment Supervisor. He then spent five years in Colorado where he retired in 1987. After his retirement, Larry moved to Desert Aire, Wash. and worked at the Desert Aire Golf Course from 1993 until his passing.
Larry has many friends and was well known for helping others. He cared about everyone and had a heart of gold. He was also Grandpa to all the kids in the neighborhood.
Larry is survived by his wife, Wilma; daughter, Teri McGlothlin; grandchildren, Katie Elder, Ryan and Rachel Crawford; great-grandchildren, Lily, Aubrey and Samuel Lara; brother, Timothy James (Laura) McGlothlin; sisters, Deanna (Loran) Reams and Pam (Don) Zeutschel, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Vera McGlothlin.
He will be laid to rest at Sunset Gardens, Richland, Wash. No services are planned.
