Treasure Valley Community College scored early and often on Grays Harbor College to take a non-league match on Wednesday, Aug. 31 in Ontario, Ore. GHC lost 11-0.

The Chukars scored in the 17th, 19th and 26th minutes to take control early and lead 3-0 at halftime. Treasure Valley didn’t let off the gas in the second half and scored eight more goals.

Grays Harbor College earned a 4-4 tie with Yakima Valley Community College in a non-league match on Tuesday (Aug. 30).

With GHC (1-2-1) trailing 4-3 in the 88th minute, the Chokers’ Brittani Snook took a pass from Mary Davis, turned and fired a shot into the top, left corner from 22 yards out to tie the match.

“Yakima played an over-the-top type of game and we didn’t really figure out how to fix that until the second half,” GHC coach Chris Schumacher said. “In the second half we moved Ashley Marshall to a sweeper and encouraged our outside midfielders to drop back for support also. We used Mary up top almost exclusively in the second half and got a few balls through.”

GHC drew first blood just two minutes into the game on a goal by Davis, but the Yaks scored the next three goals. Yakima added talleys in the seventh, 35th and 36th minutes.

Grays Harbor’s Anya Marcisz cut the margin to one just three minutes before the end of the first half to make the score 3-2 heading into halftime.

It took GHC mere moments to knot the game at 3, with Snook sending a ball through to Davis on the second-half kickoff. Davis weaved her way through traffic and buried a shot from the top of the box.

Yakima scored in the 65th minute to set up Snook’s equalizer.

Grays Harbor College soccer will be back in action on Sept. 10.
