• Elma Senior Center hosts pinochle every Friday at 10:30 a.m. and Saturday at 7 p.m.

• The Grays Harbor ACLU meets the third Wednesday of every month for a potluck at 6 p.m. at Events on Emerson (212 4th St. in Hoquiam).

•Olympic Area Agency on Aging presents every third Thursday of the month Family Caregivers Support Group. 1:30 p.m.-3 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church (1296 Monte Elma Rd. in Elma). For more information call (360) 538-2458.

At the libraries

• Family Storytime. Wednesdays, 10:30-11 a.m. at Elma Timberland Library. Music, movement, and books for the whole family. All ages.

• Bilingual story time at the Elma Timberland Library, 4 p.m. on Thursdays. Stories, rhymes and songs in spanish and English.

Entertainment

• Throwback Thursdays at Quinault Beach Resort and Casino every Thursday in May at 6 p.m. Entertainers throughout the month include Leon Harder, Bobby Valencia, James Mitchell and Leon Harder (May 25). Free shuttle available.

Meetings

• A coffee club meeting will be held at 11 a.m. at Brandon Klinger’s Edward Jones office (211 S. Main St., suite 1A in Montesano).

Friday, May 5

Events

• Nominations are still being accepted for Elma Citizen of the Year. The recognition banquet will be held at the Elma Eagles Banquet Hall with entertainment from Ericka Corban starting at 6 p.m. A prime rib dinner will be provided at 7 p.m. with the award presentation and dessert auction to take place after dinner. Tickets are $25 and are available at the Elma Variety Store, Dennis Company, Elma Pharmacy and the Elma Chamber of Commerce.

Entertainment

• Mantra will perform at Quinault Resort and Casino starting at 9 p.m. and again on Saturday, May 6. Funk Factory will also perform on both dates.

Saturday, May 6

Events

• McCleary United Methodist Church will host at 1 p.m. the McCleary UMW Mother’s Tea, Abundant Health for Women and Children. There will be a special guest speaker. 426 South 3rd Street, McCleary. Donations will be accepted.

• Elma Alliance Church will host Bingo at 11 a.m. $2 per card or $5 for three cards. Proceeds go to the church’s mission trip for 2017.

• Costal Waters District BSA will decommission Camp Delezenne Elma, 1963-2017, from 4-7 p.m. Activities will include flag retire, firebowl, campsite visitation and sharing of Delezenne camp experiences. Bear totems to share. Refreshments will be provided.

At the libraries

• Elma Timberland Library presents Builders and Tinkerers, 1-4:30 p.m. for all ages. Come to the library to tweak, test, try out and build with exciting new technology tools and toys.

• An American Red Cross blood drive will be held 1:30-7 p.m. at Montesano Presbyterian (201 McBryde Ave. E.).

At the libraries

• Hoquiam Timberland Library presents Pageturners Book Discussion, 7-8 p.m. for adults. Come discuss “The Orchardist” by Amanda Coplin.

•The Friends of the McCleary Timberland Library will meet from 11 a.m.-noon in the library meeting room.

Wednesday, May 10

At the libraries

• The McCleary Timberland Library will be closed for staff training. The library will resume its regular schedule Thursday, May 11. All other Grays Harbor County Timberland Libraries will be open as usual.

• Grays Harbor County Fair Board will hold their regulary monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the county fairgrounds in Elma.

• Mary Fran Lewis will be presenting a slideshow on her trip to Morocco in the meeting room of the Montesano Timberland Library at 7 p.m.

• Elma Timberland Library presents PageTurners Book Discussion, 6-7 p.m. for adults. Come discuss “The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry” by Rachel Joyce.

• McCleary Timberland Library presents Get Crafty, 3-4 p.m. for adults. Join fellow community members and get creative.

Wednesday, May 17

At the libraries

• Hoquiam Timberland Library presents Books on 8th, 6-7 p.m. for ages 21 and older. “The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender” by Leslye Walton will be discussed. 8th Street Ale House, 207 8th Street, Hoquiam.

• Hoquiam Timberland Library presents Pollinator Partners, 3-4 p.m. for adults and teens. Join Master Gardeners and discover how to bring common pollinators such as bees, butterflies, beetles, flies, wasps, birds and even bats to your garden.

Thursday, May 18

• Join the Friends of Elma Timberland Library at 10 a.m. to discuss how to support the library in delivering premier events and programs.

• The Hoquiam Timberland Library will be closed for staff training. The library will resume its regular schedule on May 19.

Saturday, May 20

• The 18th Annual Grays Harbor Home and Garden Show will be held at the Grays Harbor Fairgrounds Event Center from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. May 20, and May 21 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission and parking are free.
