It’s that time of year again, when bluegrass makes its way to Montesano.
The Montesano Band Boosters will hold the third installment of “A Night of Bluegrass” Friday, March 24 from 6-8 p.m. in the Monte High School commons.
Hosted by the Dills family, who will perform as the Dills Family Bluegrass Band, the event is a fundraiser for the Montesano band.
“It really is a fun night,” band director Maria Hoffman said.
The community is encouraged to come show their support for the Montesano High School band, while at the same time enjoying bluegrass consisting of fiddles and gospel music. The Dills family will even be taking requests, Hoffman explained.
The event has been successful in the past, but Hoffman believes that additional efforts to reach out to the community will boost attendance even further.
“We really want to get the word out to the people who may be interested, because in the first few years we felt like people didn’t really know about bluegrass night,” Hoffman said.
The Pine Top Pickers will also be performing at the fundraiser, leaving nothing wanting in the evening’s musical entertainment.
“It’s a family-friendly event that really is so much fun for all ages,” Hoffman said.
Admission for the come-and-go event is by donation and refreshments will be provided.
The Montesano Band Boosters will host yet another fundraiser, “Jazz-n-Desserts Night” on Sunday, April 23.
Starting at 2 p.m. in the Monte High School commons, the event will feature the jazz bands of both Montesano and Hoquiam. A dessert auction will also be held.
“It’s another fun afternoon. People are welcome to come dance, just sit and enjoy or enjoy desserts,” Hoffman said.
