Sports Briefs: Tryouts and bowling

Final Little League tryout to be held

A final night of registration for Montesano Little League will be conducted from 6 to 8 p.m. on Feb. 20 at the Nelson Field Clubhouse. The cost is $55 per player. Parents must provide a copy of the child’s birth certificate for all children who did not play in Montesano Little League last year. One proof of residency, such as a utility bill, cable bill or driver’s license must be provided for all children from 4 to 9 years old and three proofs of residency must be provided for 10- to 12-year- old players. Members of the board will also be on hand to answer any questions and to help with sizes for hats and shirts.

Sheriff’s Office to host boater education

The Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the Montesano Fire Department, will offer a boater education course for Washington boaters. This eight-hour course provides the basics of safe boating for recreational boaters. The class will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 22 at the Montesano Fire Hall. The class is open to boaters of all ages, but is limited to 30 students on a first-come, first -served basis. There is no charge for the class.

Tryouts for youth baseball

Tryouts for the Montesano American Legion A and Babe Ruth teams will be held at 1 p.m. Feb. 23 at the Bowers Batting Building in the campus of Montesano High School. All boys 13 to 15 years of age as of April 30 and interested in participating in summer baseball are encouraged to attend. All prospective candidates will need to bring their own equipment and shoes for both indoor and outdoor field conditions, depending upon the weather. Registration forms for those not already registered will be available on the day of the tryouts. For further information please call Paul Bialkowsky at (360) 791-0138.
