MONTESANO — Youngsters from kindergarten age through middle schoolers are gathering each Tuesday night to gain basic knowledge in soccer skills.
Located at the Simpson School field, the Montesano Girls Soccer team is putting on its fifth annual Montesano Youth Soccer Academy.
“Kids come here and learn the basics of soccer,” said Montesano soccer coach Jeff Lenherr, “We always have room, so parents are encouraged to bring their kids down to check it out.”
The academy offers three sessions on Tuesdays: 5 and under to 7 and under get the 5-6 p.m. slot. U8-U10 go at 6:15-7:15 p.m. and U11 and above finish the night from 7:30 to 9 p.m. The campl continues through July 30.
The coach and his assistant, Gary Mawhorter, are always available for the one-on-one instruction, and with the Montesano girls soccer team as the main instructors for the kids, the ratio is often two to three players per instructor.
Registration fee of $30 (for the first child; $20 for each additional child) includes a T-shirt.
Interested parents should stop by the Simpson School during the scheduled Tuesday night and can register on-site.
