Native of England to coach Monte boys soccer

Mike Malpass, a native of England who has played and coached both in the U.S. and abroad, has been named the Montesano High School boys soccer coach, athletic director Tim Trimble announced.

The 48-year-old Malpass spent one year as the head girls soccer coach and C squad boys coach at Shelton, where he now resides. He was recently hired as a para-educator at Montesano High School and plans to move closer to the area in the coming months.

“I’m looking forward to the upcoming season,” he said Monday. “I’m going to go in there and hope to have them buy into what I’m doing.”
