Monte soccer beats Tenino in shootout

TENINO – After scoring easily in the first few minutes, Montesano played defense and shut out Tenino until the second half, leaving a 1-1 tie. Then, the Monte boys won the game in overtime after a thrilling shootout.

Sophomore Colby Whipple scored the first goal, with help from Brandon Lovell and David Sawyer.

In the shootout, Monte converted five of six, while Tenino made four of six.

The final score of the game, after the shootout, was Monte 6, Tenino 5.

Monte’s attack was consistent, with seven shots on goal and only two shots off.

Next game: 6 p.m. April 15 at Woodland.
