Jeff Lenherr, the Montesano High School girls soccer coach over the past six seasons, resigned late last week to take a new coaching position in California.

Lenherr has accepted a paid coaching position with the Slammers Futbol Club in Newport Beach, Calif. He will still run his constuction business remotely while he is in Southern California.

“I like that group of girls,” Lenherr said. “The program has been top-of-the-line for six years. There’s a good group of girls there and they’re only going to get better. It was a very hard decision to make. I’ll miss coaching there.”

Lenherr resigned as the Montesano boys soccer coach after two seasons in January and previously was the boys soccer coach at Elma High School for four seasons. He is also the coaching director for the Puget Sound Slammers FC and a U13 and U16 coach in the program.

Montesano has already posted the vacant head coaching position for the upcoming season.
