ELMA — The Montesano High School girls basketball team is three games away from perfection after defeating East County rival Elma, 47-37, Tuesday night in Evergreen 1A League action before a crowd of almost 1,000 fans.

“Everybody stepped up and contributed in one way or another,” said Monte coach Julie Graves. “We’ve got a goal to be league champs and this puts a little separation between us and Elma.”

The Bulldogs (17-0 overall, 9-0 in league) were led by freshman Jordan Spradlin with 17 points and 22 rebounds. Megan Choate added 12 points.

Elma was led by senior Brooke Goldsmith with 13 points. Sophomore Maddie Thompson added 10 for the Eagles.

The undefeated Montesano girls will next play at Forks on Friday, while Elma (11-5, 7-2) will host Rainier the same day for a 5:45 p.m. tip-off.
