Elma drops to Hockinson

BRUSH PRAIRIE – The Eagles fell, 7-0, in their opening game on the road Friday night against the Hockinson Hawks of the 2AA Greater St. Helens League.

“We were disappointed with the loss. We had several opportunities to score but just could not get the breaks,” said Elma head coach Jim Hill.

Hockinson scored the game’s only touchdown on a 73-yard pass in the third quarter.

Despite a good defensive effort on part of the Eagles, 62 yards in penalties kept Elma in a game of catch-up. Offensively, the Eagles gained a total of 216 yards with Todd Swinhart rushing for 82 yards and Rashad Lorton for 64, both on eight carries.

The Eagles (0-1) face 1A Eatonville (0-1) on Sept. 13.
