East County athletes named to all-league teams

East County athletes named to all-league teams

Elma’s Brooke Goldsmith and Montesano’s Madison Didion shared Most Valuable Player honors on the all-Evergreen 1A League softball team.

Didion and Goldsmith topped a list of five East County players who received first-team recognition. Montesano’s Makenzi Howard and Pua Cananah and Elma’s Sydney Smythe were also selected for the first team.

The Coaching Staff of the Year award went to league champion Montesano, led by head coach Pat Pace.

East County Selections:

FIRST TEAM

MVP — Madison Didion, Montesano, Jr.; Brooke Goldsmith, Elma, Sr.

Infielders — Makenzi Howard, Montesano, Soph.

Outfielders — Pua Cavanah, Montesano, Sr.; Sydney Smythe, Elma, Sr.

SECOND TEAM

Infielders — Megan Choate, Montesano, Jr.; Izzy Cristelli, Elma, Jr.

DP/Flex — Karli Smythe, Elma, Soph.

HONORABLE MENTION

Elma — Peyton Elliott, Ashley Cooper. Montesano — Rayna Ashlock, Kasie Kloempken.

Baseball

Five East County players were named to the all-Evergreen 1A League baseball team announced last week.

Elma’s Todd Swinhart, Nick Camenzind, Ricky Escalante and Seth Osgood and Montesano’s Kody Usher were included on the 16-player first team, chosen from coaches’ all-opponent teams.

Rochester pitching ace Dustin Wilson received the league’s Most Valuable Player award.
