What could be more appropriate to the holiday season than a pleasant drive around town gazing at all the pretty, colorful lights?
Check out the Montesano Tour of Lights! Don’t forget to turn your home or business decoration lights on from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, so your house can be included in the judging.
Most of the homes and businesses along the parade route participate in friendly competition with their decorations. The competition has been rigorous in the past, leading to ever more elaborate and festive décor.
“I don’t do it to compete,” said Denise Dromensk, owner and Proprietor of the 1903 Hubble House, once a dentist office and presently an event venue. Dromensk said she thinks of the lighting of Montesano as a chance to spur community involvement and sightseeing.
Though this year she and her cousin, Melvin Pavlov, are decorating the home with art panels that she and her sister, Sharon Boren, are putting together, one day she hopes to be able to showcase local artists to encourage Montesano tourism.
A handful of buses, compliments of the Grays Harbor Transit will depart on 45 minute to one hour tours narrated by Montesano High School Bulldogs. Special attention to historic homes and buildings appears to be this year’s focus.
Tours are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec.8.
Show up early! You won’t want to miss the parade!
