Citizen Dispute. 500 Block of South 5th Street, 5:31 p.m. Montesano Police fielded a call that was a complaint about a neighbor who parked their vehicle on the sidewalk daily and keeps their trash cans out to the curb all week. The complaint was related to an on-duty officer and the caller was advised that the police may not be able to do anything about the situation as it is a civil matter. A Montesano Police Officer did contact the offending party and advised them that the situation had been reported.
Runaway Juvenile. 700 Block of West Marcy Avenue, 9:05 p.m. Police were notified of a juvenile who had left their home and was violating his probationary curfew. The youth was traveling on foot and found by police who returned the juvenile home.
Found Property. 500 Block of South 6th Street, 12:35 p.m. Plants were found in a public access alleyway, one in a bag of potting soil, one in a pot. The caller wished to have the plants removed. Police located the plants, confiscated them, photographed them and then destroyed the marijuana plants.
Suspicious Person. 500 Block of South 1st Street, 2:28 a.m. A man described with a dark sweatshirt, and possibly intoxicated, was seen hanging around a store for about an hour. Employees of the store had asked the man to leave multiple times, but he refused to move on. Montesano Police made contact with the individual, advised him that he was trespassing and provided him a ride to Aberdeen.
Fireworks. East Cedar Avenue and Main Street, 1:24 a.m. A report of “Big time fireworks going up in the sky,” was reported to the Montesano Police. At the scene, police could not find any responsible party, but did discover a small fire in Nelson Field. An attempt was made to extinguish the fire, but it only aggravated the situation. Montesano Fire Department was called to the scene to extinguish the fire.
Citizen Dispute. 600 Block of West Pioneer Avenue, 5:17 p.m. An ongoing argument over a fence became more heated after one of the residents’ mother was shocked by the fence. The son of the mother who got shocked by the electric fence addition, tore down the wires. The neighbor who had added the electric fence, to guard against cats crossing the fence, said that he would replace the electric fence, but at an additional height.
Disorderly Conduct. 100 Block of South Chehalis Street, 11:23 p.m. Montesano Police arrived at the scene where a couple had been arguing. The male was not present but damage was observed on a door way and a bruise was observed on the woman’s arm. A citation was sent to the court for mailing.
Civil Dispute. 100 Block of South Main Street, 8:32 p.m. A report was given to the police about an employee who had just quit and had taken off with a car-top sign. The employee was located who said that they would return the sign the following day.
Burglary. 100 Block of South Chehalis Street, 12:06 a.m. Police arrived on the scene to arrest a man who had forcibly entered a home. The man was also cited for resisting arrest.
Citizen Assistance. Spruce and Church, 5:11 p.m. Montesano Police observed a man who appeared very intoxicated wandering the streets. The man, who stated that he was looking for a friend’s house, was escorted to the 600 block of East Elma Avenue.
Suspicious Circumstance. Montesano, 12:30 - 1 a.m. Police made two traffic stops and observed another vehicle at a gas station that looked to be covered with broken eggs. In conversation with the individuals in the vehicles, they learned that some sort of “Egg War” was being conducted between classes from the school. Everyone involved and observed had consented to the activity.
Juvenile Problem. 200 Block of East Broadway Avenue, 11:01 a.m. Police received a call that an elderly gentleman was having issues with his grandson, a great deal of yelling and screaming was heard in the background. Arriving on the scene, police made contact with the juvenile who agreed, after an attitude adjustment, that he would get along with the family.
Agency Assistance. Wynooche and Main, 12:25 p.m. The driver of a log truck had just finished washing his rig and accidentally backed into the guide wires of a power pole tripping a fuse on the pole that caused a large explosion. The PUD was called to the scene.
Animal Problem. 400 Block of Kennaston Avenue. Montesano Police went to visit a man who was in the hospital attending to a dog bite. The man, who was bitten by his own dog, stated that when he tried to put the dog outside, it began to growl at him. The man further engaged the dog by taking him by his chain and snout when the dog bit him, tearing open his hand. The man advised police that he was going to take the dog to the vet and have him put down, as the dog had previously bitten people on six previous occasions, and had never been under a vets care.
Vehicle Prowl. 300 Block of East Broadway Avenue, 3:27 p.m. After the vehicle was parked for the evening, the owner discovered the following afternoon, scratch marks on his gas cap as if someone was trying to pry it open. The owner was concerned as someone had cut the gas lines of his girlfriend’s truck previously and felt that they were possibly being targeted.
Trespassing. State Route 107, 2:33 a.m. A man was placed under arrest while attempting to kick a door in. The man was very intoxicated and was cited for trespass and malicious mischief. The man was later tied to a past burglary of a gas station in Central Park.
Suspicious Circumstances. 600 Block of West Spruce Avenue. A cleaning crew hired by a bank to clean out a home, discovered human remains in a freezer. After contacting the owner, it was verified that he was allowed to have the articles as part of his job training cadaver dogs.
