Twice a year, the Friends of the Montesano Timberland Library hold a fundraising book sale. It takes about a week to accomplish this sale and many volunteers to put it together. To begin, the Montesano Fire Department volunteers help move large tables from the Odd Fellows/Senior Citizen building to the basement of the library. Next, the County Correctional Trustees help move the 400 or so book boxes (donated by Alice Hutchison, the Avon Lady) out of the storeroom and onto the tables. The following day, a score of volunteers unpack the boxes and arrange the books by category. Signs are put up and the sale runs on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday afternoon, another score of workers pack up all the boxes of books and place them back in storage. These Sunday volunteers include a group of terrific helpers from the Jr./Sr. High School. The tables are folded and carried back to the Odd Fellows building to await our next sale, which will be on May 2 to May 3.
The Friends of the Library would like to thank all the volunteers who make this fundraiser happen, and all the folks who donated books throughout the year. The funds from our sales go toward keeping our local library a vital hub of the community.
