The members of the Montesano United Methodist Church wish to publicly thank the City of Montesano Public Works Department for the excellent, however long over-due, restoration of the area of Church Street that is vital for public access, not only to certain areas of our church, but to other neighboring churches and residents. The street is also heavily used by Montesano High School traffic, including buses.
Our church, as well as our neighboring churches, are multipurpose. For example, we sponsor a preschool and the Montesano Church of God sponsors the community school morning exercise class. All of the churches periodically host community functions, memorial services, weddings, etc. A lot of cars, buses, commercial vehicles … and foot traffic! The street and sidewalks were, for quite a few years, in very bad condition, and several people sustained falls because of potholes and crumbling pavement/sidewalk. Several of the falls were serious. The potential was always there for injuries, especially to our aging congregation members and visitors.
It is such a relief that we are able to now enjoy such a beautiful and safer Church Street. It was certainly worth the temporarily closed street. The sidewalk, curbing and entire street areas are so very nice and attractive. Thank you and bless you fellows with the hard hats, shovels and noisy machinery.
