Throughout the year, members of the Friends of Schafer and Lake Sylvia have been working hard to create continued opportunities for the public to enjoy and share Lake Sylvia and Schafer state parks.
We are again celebrating the beauty of Schafer State Park at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, with our traditional salmon barbecue. With the great weather predicted, and the beautiful autumn leaves, the ambience of the park will be perfect for an outdoor picnic celebrating the Pacific Northwest tradition of barbecued salmon.
Non-FOSLS members and guests are asked to donate $7 toward event expenses. Potluck items are always welcomed. FOSLS memberships will also be available for sale. Washington state Discover Passes for vehicles will be required ($10 for the day or $30 for 12 months) and will be available at the park during this event. Money from Discover Pass sales goes directly toward keeping Washington’s state parks and recreational lands open to the public.
We hope you will come and enjoy this event with us and learn more about the continued fight to keep our state parks open because if we don’t fight for this amazing public asset, we could easily lose it soon.
