I am writing today to ask you and your readers to join me supporting Arie Callaghan as the next District 1 PUD commissioner. I have been friends with Arie for 40-plus years, and in that time, I have seen him demonstrate leadership qualities that make me proud to be an acquaintance. In his current profession, he has to maintain a balance between state laws, being productive, pleasing his customers, treating the men and women that work for him fairly and making Mason Trucking profitable in these tough times. He has been in a leadership role at Mason Trucking for many years and for good reason. I believe Jim Mason sees in him what the ratepayers of Grays Harbor will be privy to next year.
He is a proven leader, a problem solver and a genuine people person, yet can rub shoulders with engineers and law enforcement and talk business. He is well known, and, I believe, respected for his abilities and friendly demeanor. As I understand, the union workers at the PUD have given their support to him, and that says a lot.
These are difficult times, and having someone like Arie in a position that requires a commitment to labor, management and especially ratepayers will be a comfort. Arie’s current position makes him accountable to labor, management, law enforcement and especially his customers in the heavy equipment hauling industry. He has been very successful in business, and I’m sure he’ll be successful as PUD commissioner.
Please join me in November and cast your vote for Arie Callaghan for PUD commissioner for District 1 Grays Harbor.
