Grays Harbor College ranks among the best

Great news for GHC!

In a nationwide report, Grays Harbor College has been ranked as the top community college in the State of Washington, and as number 15 out of 700 community colleges in the nation.

A report just released by Washington Monthly ranks colleges on a series of criteria. Also on the list are Cascadia (22), Green River (44), Tacoma (46) and Highline (47).

Specifically Washington Monthly, a national nonprofit magazine in Washington DC, gives high marks to community colleges based on student responses concerning quality of teaching and data on retention and graduation rates. (Data came from the Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE) and U.S. Department of Education measures of student retention and completion.) This is the 8th year for the nationwide report, which officially appears in the September-October issue.

“We are all excited to hear of our top ranking,” commented GHC president Ed Brewster. “Some of the data used to arrive at the ranking was collected directly from our students and other information came from statistics regarding our retention and graduation rates.

“Everyone at GHC works so diligently to ensure that students have a successful experience; this really validates all of their hard work,” Brewster added.

“It’s great to be Number One!”

Fall Quarter at GHC begins on September 23. There is still time to enroll in classes, although space and some financial aid may be limited. For more information, contact GHC at www.ghc.edu or call 360.532.9020.
