Satsop News: Life after carpal tunnel surgery

The good weather has returned. The last few days have been beautiful. We’re trying to get a little yard work done but I had carpal tunnel surgery on my left hand on Friday, May 24, so I’m taking things slow.

It’s so easy to forget there are stitches in that hand until you make a wrong move or bump that hand. Then the hand says, “OUCH.” I get the stitches out on Friday and then, hopefully, I can really get busy on those nasty weeds in my flower beds.

On Sunday, May 26 at the Satsop Methodist Church, several birthdays were celebrated. Bev Scott put coins in for grand kids Colby Scott, Garrett Everson, Ryan and Robie Scott’s all with May birthdays. Tami Ballew put coins in for her daughter Kirston Thornton’s birthday.

Joys shared: Linda Wilder enjoyed the Elma FFA Banquet and seeing the awards her granddaughter, Angie Patton, received.

Prayers were asked for Mel McMillan, Eddie Kruger, all the servicemen and women who have served our country and for the tornado victims. On Sunday, June 2, Arline Tobola, Ralph Osgood, Helen Graham and Fern Osgood hosted the Sunday morning breakfast at the Satsop-Methodist Church. Pastor K led the church service. Cadie Nuxoll and Dalton Combs lit the candles. No birthdays or anniversaries to celebrate this week. Myrna Manier read the scriptures. Mike and Arline Tobola shared the joy that their daughter, Patricia Case had an emergency “C” section and gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on May 29. Case lives in Pennsylvania. Baby Ann Emerson Case and new mom are both fine.

Patricia’s sister, Elizabeth and her son Oliver flew to Pennsylvania to be with and help the new mom. Arline Tobola will be flying back next week.

She also shared the joy of Mike getting his vegetable garden planted. Francine Carpenter’s dad celebrated his 88th birthday on Sunday. Prayers are needed for health problems for Jim and Vonnie Morton and Mick Wagonblast.

Prayers for the family of Kathleen Fix, who passed away this past week. Kathleen was 101 years old when she passed away.

Please keep all the families in your prayers who have lost so much these past few weeks to tornadoes.

Mark Carpenter and Dalton Combs collected the offering. Tami Combs collected the Sunday special offering for UMCOR. Pastor K and Arline Tobola served communion.

Graduation is almost here for seniors all over Grays Harbor and throughout the country. My prayers go out to all of you for success and safety. Good luck and best wishes to all.

My thought for the week comes from Mother Teresa: “We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.”
