This past week was a busy week. Jim and I spent three days in Olympia for doctor appointments and then spent the rest of the week getting the motor home ready to take to Matlock for the Old Timer’s Fair.
This year, the weather was wonderful with lots of tractors and vintage equipment to look at and always lots of vendors to check out. What a fun weekend. Thanks to Dugan Dotson for getting Jim’s 1940 John Deere L to the fair for display. We enjoyed evening dinners with friends Cliff and Sunny Cotey, Ron and Maryanne Loomis and Curt and Eileen Warner.
There are always so many people we know that come to the Old Timer’s Fair and we spend a lot of time visiting and also making new friends. If you didn’t make it to Matlock this year, put it on your calendar for next year. To all the people who work so hard putting on the Old Timer’s Fair, I only know a few names, LeRoy Valley and Ron Loomis, but there are so many more; I want to say thank you. It is a fun weekend with so much to see and do for both adults and children. Again, thanks to everyone who helps put this fair together year after year. And to all who bake those delicious pies —thank you, thank you.
For several years, Marcella Rattie has been getting graduates of Elma High School from the ‘40s and ‘50s to meet for lunch once a month at the Lucky Eagle Casino. They meet on the 1st Wednesday of every month. This month they had 60 classmates and spouses joining together for lunch. It is always fun to see so many friends getting together to remember the fun days of growing up in and around Elma.
Sunday morning at the Satsop Methodist Church, Ed and Jean Comfort and Sheri Russell hosted the Sunday morning breakfast. Pastor K led the Sunday service. Myrna Manier read the Scriptures. Pastor K shared the joy of the trip she and Dick took to Canada last week. Please keep Cris Robinson in your prayers for healing for the hip replacement she had last week. Mark Carpenter and Dalton Combs collected the offering. The Satsop Methodist Church barbeque Beef Sandwich dinner is Tuesday, May 2 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. A salad bar and pie also go with the sandwich. I hope to see you there.
I hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful weather we had over the weekend and hopefully all week long. My plans for the week include yardwork, which seems to never get finished. I may complain about it but I love working in my yard even if later I pay for it with all the aches and pains in my joints. Have a good week.
My thought for the week: “Shared laughter is like throwing open the shutters in a gloomy room and letting in fresh air and sunshine.”
