Richard McLeod James was born on September 13, 1921, in Spokane, Washington to Willis Frank and Florence Mary (Payne) James. He lived his whole life in Aberdeen. Richard passed away in Aberdeen on August 9, 2013, at the age of 92.
Richard served in the United States Navy and was in both World War II and the Korean War. He worked at the Aberdeen Post Office until retirement and also worked security at the South Shore Mall. He was a member of the VFW for 40 years.
Richard married Patricia Lee Nightingale on September 12, 1945. They remarried on August 6, 2002. She survives him at the family home in Aberdeen. Aside from his wife, Richard is survived by his daughters, Tesha Northup and Leslye Kelher; brother, David Jennings; sister, Liz Bubnick; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Earlis James; four brothers and three sisters.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
